Changhua floating solar projects (192 MW)

Our Changbin #3 and #4 projects are a testament to HEXA Renewables’ commitment in driving Taiwan’s renewable energy transition. With a capacity of 192 MW, this innovative floating solar project harnesses the power of the sun while maximizing land use efficiency. Leveraging cutting-edge solar technology, the project aims to contribute significantly to Taiwan’s goal of achieving a 20% renewable energy target by 2025. Employing a unique anchor pile-type anchorage system, the project stands out by minimizing the environmental impact and enhancing stability against daily tidal movements, which increases the longevity and efficiency of the solar panels. This technology represents a significant advancement in HEXA Renewables’ approach to sustainable energy production.

The Changbin #3 and #4 projects started construction in October 2022 and achieved COD in 2023, successfully overcoming the technical challenges of the near-shore environment. The area is considered challenging for floating solar projects due to daily tidal changes and occasional typhoons.

This project is the first large-scale project to use concrete pillars and H-beam system for its anchoring design. To ensure the reliability of its brand-new anchoring solution, Ciel & Terre Taiwan has worked with experts from various fields such as marine engineering companies, plastic mold companies, structural engineers, and hydraulic engineering experts to finalize the parts and whole structure.
